Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville announces funeral services for Mr. Charles Raymond Lawson, age 76, of Blairsville, who passed away Wednesday, October 2, 2013, at his home following an extended illness.
Charles was born in Ballground, Georgia, on December 10, 1936, a son of the late William Jake Lawson and the late Alice Venita Brown Lawson. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, and attained the rank of Sargeant. Charles worked for approximately 50 years in the florist business, and was the owner of Union County Florist in Blairsville. After his retirement, he worked part-time with Resthaven Florist. He was a member of the House of Prayer Interdenominational Church in Blairsville. Charles had been preceded in death by: his parents; sisters, Martha Brown, JoAnn Eason, and Peggie Bracken; brothers: William T. Lawson, Jack Benson Lawson, and Larry Alexander Lawson.
Charles will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He leaves behind family members and friends who will treasure his memory: daughter, Michele Webb, of Stockbridge, Georgia; grandson, Justin Webb; sister-in-law, June Fairchild, of West Palm Beach, Florida; special friends, Randy Haines, of Blairsville, and Tom Dowdy, also of Blairsville; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives also survive.
Funeral services have been scheduled for Friday, October 4, 2013, at 2:00 p.m., in the Chapel of Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville, with Rev. Jan Devereaux officiating. Special music will be presented by Alan Kendall. The following gentlemen have been selected to serve as pallbearers: Curtis Haines, Larry Bowling, Larry Perry, Ronnie Coker, Danny Smith, and Keith Bryant. Selected to serve as honorary pallbearers are the following gentlemen: Daniel Shumaker, Robert Buchanan, and Danny Haines. Mary Conley and Sara Smith will serve as honorary escort to the family. Visitation will be held at Cochran Funeral Home on Friday, the same day of the service, starting at 12:30 and last until time for the funeral service to start. T
Burial will be in Union Memory Gardens Cemetery.
