The Cochran Funeral Home of Hiawassee announces Funeral Services for Mr. Charles "Chuck" William Creed, age 80 of Hiawassee who passed away on Wednesday, March 28, 2018.
Chuck was born on August 25, 1937 in Washington Courthouse, Ohio to the late Paul & Juanita (Bryan) Creed. After High School, Chuck served 6 years in the United States Army. His service eventually brought him to Ft. Benning, Georgia where he was introduced by a friend to the love of his life and Hiawassee native, Beatrice Chastain. In 1969, Chuck began a service station business in College Park, GA. Later, He operated the business along side his son, Jeff for many years. The family kept a weekend home in Hiawassee to escape the city life and enjoy each others company. The family enjoyed exploring the country together. They will cherish memories of visiting destinations like the Grand Canyon, San Francisco, Pearl Harbor and many others. In 2003, Chuck retired then shortly later moved to Hiawassee to stay. Chuck enjoyed hunting for deer and turkey, fishing, camping, and basically everything involving the outdoors!
He leaves behind many friends and family members: His devoted wife of 55 years, Beatrice Creed; son, Jeff Creed; brother & sister-in-law, John & Roszaland Creed; sister, Janice Plymire; and sister & brother-in-law, Garnet & George Greenlee. Chuck was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Sonny Creed.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 31, 2018 from the Chapel of Cochran Funeral Home of Hiawassee with Pastor Katie Strahls officiating. Interment will follow at Burch Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from noon until the service begins.
