Mr. Charles Michael Stephens, age 66 of Morganton, passed away April 10, 2015 at Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta. Charles was born April 5, 1949 in Austell, GA to the late Arvil Stephens and the late Mattie Westmoreland Stephens. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by wife, Carolyn Eve Stephens, two brothers, and one sister. He was Baptist in faith and a dedicated American Veteran. He served his country proudly in the Vietnam and the Persian Gulf wars enlisting in the United States Army and then retiring from the military in 1996. He also worked for Atlanta Gas Light and other various general contracting jobs. Charles enjoyed visiting with people and was best known for his humor and lovability.
Survivors include his loving children, Tracey (Russell) Galloway, Amy (Josh) McDaris, Charlene (Micah) Foster, Chad (Amanda) Stephens, and Wendy Gibson, favorite nephew, Johnny (Joyce) Stephens, sister, Joyce (Edward) Hyatt, sister-in-law, Evelyn Stephens, thirteen grandchildren, Kody Galloway, Kolton Galloway, Dalton Gibson, Chelsey Quintrell, Dakota Gibson, Gage Clore, Tyler Jones, Gavin Clore, Gentry Clore, Brayden Foster, Vince Foster, Isaiah Stephens, and Chris Wilson.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, April 11, 2015 at 1:00 pm at the Toccoa Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Randy Hooper officiating.
