Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville announces Funeral Services for Mr. Charles John Martin Harkins, age 82 of Atlanta, GA, who passed away at his home Monday November 9, 2015. Mr. Harkins was born in Blairsville, GA July 30, 1933 to Emory & Bonnie Chambers Harkins.
Charles was a Veteran of the United States Army and a member of Allegheny Lodge #114 F & AM. Charles owned & operated Roswell Sewing Center for many years. Charles was a loving husband, father, grandfather & great-grandfather, brother, uncle & friend and will be greatly missed by all who knew & loved him.Besides his parents, Charles was preceded in death by brothers, James Rowe and Julius (J.C.) Harkins, and sisters Norma Jean Jones and Eula Lee Spence.
Survivors include his wife, Yvonne Harrison Harkins, Son, Bryan (Ronda) Harkins; Son, Chris (Angie) Harkins; Granddaughters, Chrystan Tucker & Catelynn Reno; and great-granddaughters Kaylee Tucker & Lorali Reno. Charles was anxiously awaiting the arrival of his 2nd great-grandchild due in December. Charles is also survived by his Sister, Sybil Tyre and Sister-in-law Margie Harkins, both of Blairsville, a host of nieces and nephews, and many other relatives.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 14, 2015 from the Chapel of Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville with Rev, Jerry Helton officiting. Music will be presented by Calvin Collins. Interment will follow at Philadelphia Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will include: Bryan Harkins, Mike Dallas, Yonah Chambers, Jerry Reese, Robert Harkins, Corey Collins, Codey Collins, Calvin Collins. Honorary Pallbearers are Chuck Tyre and James Harkins.The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday evening from 5 until 8 pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the charity organization of your choice.
