Charles G. Welch

Charles G. (Buck) Welch, age 82, passed away on Monday, July 30, 2018, at Southwest Christian Care, Union City, GA. He was born on December 18, 1935, in Fannin County, GA to the late Harmon Gorden Welch and Edith (Chastain) Welch. Mr. Welch served as a paratrooper in the United States Army, was a Shriner for Forty years and served as the president for several years. He spent his adult career as an ironworker with Local 387 where he worked on many Atlanta landmark buildings. Buck was also an avid golfer for many years. Mr. Welch was a member of First Baptist Church of McCaysville/Copperhill, and he loved his Sunday School class. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Alvin, Paul, Edward, and Hoyt Welch, three sisters, Marie Jernigan, Mildred Arp, and Hildred Bennett.

Survivors include his loving wife of 58 years, Penny Couch Welch and brother, Bob (Sherry) Welch, three daughters, Kelly Maria (Mark) Amos of Locust Grove, GA, Tara Nicole (Ted) Smith of Atlanta, GA, and Misty Lea Mick of Atlanta, GA, five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Memorial services: Sunday, August 12, 2018, at 4:00 pm from the Finch-Cochran Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Matthew McDaniel and Mark Amos officiating.

The family will receive friends Sunday, August 12, 2018, from 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm.
