Charles Dwight Mason, Sr.

Cochran Funeral Home & Crematory of Blairsville announces the death of Mr. Charles Dwight Mason, Sr. age 82 of Blairsville who passed away on Sunday June 27th, 2021 in Augusta, GA.

Mr. Mason was born on May 14th, 1939 in Hayesville, NC to the late Roy E. and Nellie (Patterson) Mason. He was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Blairsville. He loved the Lord, loved his family, and loved reading the bible. Charles served his country honorably in the United States Air Force for 4 years, he also served 35 years working for Georgia State Patrol and retired as a Division Director. He is preceded in death by his son, Mitchell Chadwich Mason.

Survivors include his children, Charles D. Mason, Jr. (Angie), Sharon Denise Mason-Mayfield (Rodney), Clayton Dwayne Mason, and Tammy Newsome; brother, Blake Mason (Jennie); 13 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild; 2 special nieces, Linda Lingerfelt and Connie Samples; several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral Services will be held at 3:00pm on Thursday July 1st, 2021 from the Chapel of Cochran Funeral Home with Rev. William Keer officiating and funeral rites being presented by the Georgia State Patrol. Interment will follow in the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in Blairsville with military honors being presented by the North Georgia Honor Guard. The following gentlemen have been selected to serve as pallbearers: Mitchell Brandon Mason, Eben Jack Mason, Patrick Pate, Samuel Dwight Mason, Donald Hatfield, and Leo Nogueira. Honorary Pallbearers will be Lanny Plott, Wendell Murphy, and Emmett Payne.

The family will receive friends from 1:00pm until the service hour of 3:00pm on Thursday July 1st, 2021 at Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville.
