Cochran Funeral Home and Crematory of Blairsville announces graveside services for Chaplain Art Estes, age 90, of Blairsville, who passed away early Thursday morning, April 26, 2012, in Union General Hospital in Blairsville.
Chaplain Estes was born in Jacksonville, Florida, on May 24, 1921, a son of the late Arthur Estes and Bernie Phillips Estes. He was a Chaplain in the U.S. Army, and was a member of First Baptist Church of Blairsville. A son, Arthur Jeffrey Estes, preceded his father in death.
Chaplain Estes will be missed by all who knew him, especially his family: His wife, Jeane Elliott Estes, of Blairsville; daughter and son-in-law, Sharon Estes Knapp and Richard Knapp, of New Smyrna Beach, Florida; and daughter, Patricia Estes Neil, of Tampa, Florida; four grandchildren: Mary Elizabeth Knapp-Rasay, Deborah Jeane Wallace; Lawrence Christopher Neil, and Matthew James Neil; six great grandchildren: Trevor Jordan Wallace, Gloria Neil, Mary Neil, Faith Neil, Grace Neil, and Jackson Neil.
Graveside services are scheduled for Monday, April 30, 2012, at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, Georgia, at 1:00 p.m., with Rev. Danny Parris officiating.
