Chalmus Lawrence Cochran, age 87 of Ellijay, passed away Sunday, December 2, 2007 at Union General Hospital. Chalmus was born Friday, February 6, 1920 in Fulton County Ga. to the late Chalmus Lawrence Cochran, Sr. and the late Eva Mae Stanford Cochran. A member of Coral Gables Congregational Church (UCC) he was a WW II US Army Veteran serving in "C" Company, 9th. Medical Battalion, 60th Infantry Regiment, 9th Infantry Division as a Medic. He was married June 18, 1948 to Marguerite Graf and was preceded in death by son, Lawrence Walter Cochran in 1973.
Survivors include: wife, Marguerite Graf Cochran, daughter & son-in-law, Deborah Lynn & Rudolf Pameijer of Indianapolis, son & daughter-in-law, Donald Neal & Karen Cochran of Chokoloskee, daughter & son-in-law, Gail Patricia & Michael McCormick of Alford, Fla., brother, James A Cochran of Blue Ridge, brother, Luther Cochran of Douglasville, brother, Alton L. Cochran, sister, Jane Arey of Staunton, Va, grandchildren, Shannon, Lindsay Rae, Preston Pameijer and Ashley Pameijer Gantzer, Joshua and Sandy Cochran, Shelby Burch & Miranda McCormick, great-granddaughter, Alyce Grace Gantzer.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 5, 2007 at 2:00PM at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton. Reverend Leland McReynolds officiating.
