C.d. Griggs

Mr. C.D. Griggs, age 85, of Blairsville, GA passed away Monday, February 22, 2010 at Union General Hospital after a brief illness. He was born on Monday, October 20, 1924 in Blairsville, GA, a son of the late Joseph and Madelene Griggs. C. D. was a WW II U S Army Veteran and a member and Deacon of Ebenezer Baptist Church. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Ella Griggs.

He is survived by his wife, Charlene Griggs of Blairsville, GA; son & daughter-in-law, Mark & Cheryl Griggs of Blairsville, GA; daughter & son-in-law, Patty & Wes Whitfield of Homer, GA; granddaughters and their husbands, Marquetta & Brent Thompson of Virginia Beach, VA, Marletta & Jordan Arnold of Dahlonega, GA, grandaughter Kaylee Whitfield of Homer, GA, grandson, Wyatt Whitfield of Homer, GA; brothers, Roy Griggs of Bryson City, NC, and Joseph Griggs, JR of Blairsville, GA.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 24, 2010 at 2:00 PM from the Ebenezer Baptist Church with Rev. R. L. Martin and Rev. Ray Potts officiating. Music will be provided by the church choir and Rev. Tommy and Vicki Jenkins. The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers: Junior Bridges, Ricky Griggs, Ronnie Griggs, Cecil Hughes, Terry Hughes and James Bridges. Honorary pallbearers will be Hubert Plott, Doyle Gunter, Arlin Worley, Lee Knight and Ronnie Cocker. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the Chapel of Cochran Funeral Home Tuesday from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM.
