Carl J. Hughes

Mr. Carl J. "Jim" Hughes, age 89, of Miami, FL, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 30, 2019. He was born in Albany, CA to the late James L. & Mildred Ellen South Hughes. A plural member of Holy Rosary/St. Richard Catholic Church in Miami and St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Blairsville, Jim also enjoyed spending time with several charitable and fraternal organizations. These included The Knights Of Columbus, American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He also served in the United States Army, United States Navy, United States Air Force and the United States Coast Guard.

Jim will be remembered by all who knew him, but especially missed by his loving wife, Florence H. Hughes; Children, Nancy L. Hughes ( Lonna), Jesse D. Hughes, Christopher J. Hughes (Luisa), Carl J. Hughes II, Amy L. Weems (Barry), Robin Wilkey (Brian), Laura Fries, Wade Hughes, Matthew Hughes (Tina), Gene Poe (Vicky), Caroline Knott (Jon), Julia Arce (George), Christian Moranz (Susan), Michael Rose and Barbara Fraser (John). Also, sharing in his legacy are twenty-four grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, and numerous other friends and family.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, April 17, 2019 at 11:00am for the Holy Rosary/St. Richard Catholic Church in Miami, FL. Father William Joseph Sullivan will be officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Fisher House Foundation. Interment will be held on May 11, 2019 at Ft. Denaud Cemetery in LaBelle, Florida.
