Brenda Kaye Smith (Helton)

Mrs. Brenda Kaye Smith, age 55 of Murphy, passed away Tuesday, May 28, 2013 at the Mission Hospital in Asheville. Mrs. Smith was born November 12, 1957 in Murphy, NC to the late Calvin Helton and the late Billie Jean Orton Helton. A member of Simonds Chapel Baptist Church, she was preceded in death by sister, Lisa Mull, and brother, Ronnie Helton. Brenda enjoyed working in her garden and planting flowers.

Survivors include: husband, Robert Larry Smith, son, Jason Rose, brother, Harold (Debbie) Helton, twin sister, Linda (Dennis) Garrett, sister-in-law, Joan Golden Helton, and two grandchildren, Tyler Rose and Leeya Rose.

Funeral services will be Friday, May 31, 2013 at 2:00 pm at the Cochran Funeral Home of Murphy with the Rev. Warren Golden officiating. Music provided by the Golden Sisters. Interment will follow in the Bell Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers include Kevin Garrett, Edwin Patterson, Robert Smith, Tyler Helton, and Jammie Helton.

The family will receive friends at the Cochran Funeral Home of Murphy, Friday, May 31, 2013 from 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm.
