Brenda Hamby

Brenda Lynn Hamby, age  86 of McCaysville, GA. Brenda, passed away on April 27, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on March 13, 1938, in Blue Ridge, GA  A dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, Brenda's compassionate spirit and selflessness touched the lives of all who knew her.

Brenda dedicated her career to nursing and serving others. Her love for caring for others extended beyond her profession, as she would cook for those in need and generously share her restored baby dolls with residents at the nursing home. She enjoyed going to church and spending time with her church family whom she loved deeply. Brenda adored her family and cherished spending time with her grandchildren.

Brenda was preceded in death by her father, William Dilbeck, her mother, Bessie Dilbeck, and her beloved son, Bryan Keith Verner. She was also preceded in death by her siblings, Patsy Sparks, Marlene German, Darlene Woodward, Jackie Dilbeck, and Joann Dilbeck.

Brenda is survived by her loving husband, Gay Hamby; her children Angela (Ted) Sisk, Tim (Carole) Verner, Lisa (Keith) Heard, and Sean (Donna) Hamby; her siblings Dan "Sonny Boy" (Linda) Dilbeck, Larry (Laquita) Dilbeck, Patt (Terry) Whitlow, and Frances (Ronnie) Bailey;  her grandchildren; Mindy (Jarrod) Loudermilk, Zachry (Lindsay) Sisk, Erin (Justin) Nygaard, Jessica Curry; and great-grandchildren; Sawyer Curry, and Baby Boy Loudermilk.

Funeral services to celebrate the life of Brenda Lynn Hamby will be held at Finch-Cochran Funeral Home on Thursday, May 2, 2024, at 2:00 PM with Rev. Matthew McDaniel officiating. Her family will receive friends on Thursday from 12:00 PM - 2:00 PM. A graveside service will follow officiated by Dr. David Drake at Crestlawn Cemetery in McCaysville, GA. The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers: Luke Dilbeck, Ted Sisk, Zachry Sisk, Keith Heard, Justin Nygarrd, and honorary pallbearer Rick Thomas.
