The Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville announces the Funeral Services for Mrs. Bonnie Mae Hunter, 89 of Blairsville who passed away on Friday, March 21, 2014.
Bonnie Mae was born in Choestoe Valley of Union County, Georgia on May 4, 1924 to the late William Buren & Phoebe Iowa (Hood) Hunter. She and her 7 siblings were raised on the river where they grew up poor, but never lacked in love. She taught school in a one room school house out in the county where she impacted the lives of countless students. With no children of her own she had her nieces and nephews to dote on. The doors of her home were always open and you were always welcome. They will always cherish memories of spending summers with her canning everything under the sun and enjoying home cooked meals of Chicken & Dumplings, Cornbread and Apple Pies. Christmas meant German Chocolate Cakes and Homemade Biscuits were always in the oven. All made from scratch and seasoned with love. Anyone who knew Bonnie Mae loved and adored her and her warm smile, positive outlook and honest opinions. A precious woman with a heart for the Lord, Bonnie Mae read her bible faithfully. No doubt
She will be dearly missed by all who knew her, but especially by her family: sister and brother-in-law, Lila and Richard Greene of Braselton, Georgia and brother in law, Cleveland Thomas. Her legacy will carry on in numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Edward, Billy and Jimmy Hunter and sisters, Lucille Thomas, Opal and Mildred Hunter.
Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, March 24, 2014 from the Chapel of Cochran Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Union Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday evening from 6 until 9 p.m.
