Bettye Stepp

d. April 26, 2019

It is with great sadness that the family of Bettye T. Stepp announces her passing on April 26, 2019, at Fannin Regional Hospital. Bettye was born December 19, 1929, to the late Wade and Nora Thompson of McCaysville, Georgia, and lived her life in Fannin County. She graduated from McCaysville High School as Salutatorian of her class, worked at Tennessee Copper Company in the laboratory, and her career spanned thirty years before her retirement. Bettye married Roy H. Stepp, and they resided at Blue Ridge Village. Roy preceded Bettye in death in July of 2017. Bettye felt fortunate to be part of the Stepp family. Bettye was an active member of Epworth First Baptist Church where she taught in the children's department for many years. She was a Pink Lady at Fannin Regional Hospital for many years, and this brought her great joy.

Survivors include her siblings, Sue T. Beaver of McCaysville Georgia, Shirley T. Keyes of Fort Monroe, Virginia, Peggy T. Seymour of Monroe, Georgia, and T.J. (Kathy) Thompson of Blue Ridge, Georgia. Bettye was cherished by her family especially her nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

The service for Bettye was at Epworth First Baptist Church on Saturday, May 4th at noon with her former pastor, Dr. Tom Jordan, officiating. Doug Simonds and Vernon Owenby provided music. Reverend Chris Clark, her church pastor, led the graveside service in Epworth First Baptist Cemetery. Pallbearers were deacons of Epworth First Baptist Church, Steve Cheatham, William McClure, John McInnis, Vernon Owenby, Bill Rush, David Sanders, and Scott Satterfield. Serving as Honorary Pallbearers were the Pink Ladies at Fannin Regional Hospital.

The family would like to thank Bettye's caregivers and the staff at Lifecare of Ducktown for their loving care and devotion to Bettye.
