Mrs. Betty E. Mann, age 90 of Blue Ridge, passed away October 15, 2014 at her home. Mrs. Mann was born July 23, 1924 in Chattanooga, TN to the late Joseph Parker Thomas and the late Emily Pearl Daugharty Thomas. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of McCaysville and she attended the Harbor Ministries. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by husband, Frederick Earl Mann, and brother, David Thomas of Cleveland, TN. Betty was influential in the establishment of the Fannin County Chamber of Commerce in its early days. She served as a volunteer Executive Director in 1987 and helped set up the first Fannin County Welcome Center in the train caboose down town. She worked for the Pentagon during WWII in 1943. She volunteered for many organizations in the area. In her spare time she enjoyed gardening, needle point and reading.
Survivors include son, Darrell (Kathy) Mann, daughter, Pat Mann, two grandchildren, Joseph (Jennifer) and William (Lauren) Mann and six great-grandchildren, Noah, Faith, Owen, Wyatt, Bishop and Rebecca Kate.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, October 19, 2014 at 3:00 pm at the Finch-Cochran Funeral Home with the Rev. Denise Caldwell officiating. Music provided by the Harbor Ministries Choir. Interment will follow in the Copper Ridge Memory Gardens.
