Betty Patterson Hooper

Cochran Funeral Home and Crematory of Blairsville announces funeral services for Betty Patterson Hooper, age 67, of Blairsville, who passed away on Monday night, July 10, 2017, in Pruitt Healthcare in Blue Ridge.

Betty was born in Young Harris, Georgia, and was a daughter of the late Eugene and the late Daisy Patterson. Betty was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church, and joined as a teenager. Betty will be remembered as being a strong and courageous woman, with a positive attitude, always looking and finding the good in things. She loved playing with kids and loved reading. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Martin Thornley; two brothers: Bobby Patterson and James Patterson; and a sister-in-law, Brenda Patterson.

Betty leaves behind her loving family members: son and daughter-in-law, Nathaniel and Amanda Hooper, of Blairsville; brother, Raymond Patterson, of McDonough, Georgia; brother, Arnold Patterson, of Blairsville; and brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Jamie Patterson, of Blairsville; and sister and brother-in-law, Donna and Ricky Rowland, of Blairsville. Many friends and other relatives also survive.

Funeral services have been scheduled for Friday, July 14, 2017, at 3:00 p.m., to be held at Bethlehem Baptist Church, with Rev. Dwayne Patterson officiating. Special music will be presented by Teresa Patterson Dillinger and Jackie Smith. The following gentlemen have been selected to serve as pallbearers: Matt Patterson, Aaron Patterson, Michael Colwell, Randy Colwell, Brian Patterson and Chris Patterson. The following gentlemen have been selected to serve as honorary escort to the family: Ricky Rowland, Darrell Dilbeck, and Jimmy Metzdorf. The body will lie instate at the church starting at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, before the funeral starts. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

The family will meet with friends at the funeral home on Thursday evening, July 13, 2017, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
