Betty Louise Long

Cochran Funeral Home of Hiawassee announces the death and memorial services for Mrs. Betty Louise Galliher Long, age 81, of Hiawassee, who passed away on Friday, December 17, 2021 at Chatuge Regional Hospital in Hiawassee.

Mrs. Long was a daughter of the late William Galliher and the late Olive Rose Bailey Galliher. She had been preceded in death by her husband, Donald Long; a son, Bryan Gorby, and a grandson, Alex Gorby. Mrs. Long had lived in the area for the past 30 years, moving here from Tarpon Springs, Florida. She was a member of Christ the King Anglican Church in Hiawassee, and was very committed to her church. She loved her dog, Roxie, and enjoyed playing bridge and was an avid golfer.

Surviving family members include: son, Dr. Bruce Alan Gorby; grandchildren: Victoria Rose Gorby, Sophia Margaret Marie Gorby, Gabrielle Ryann Gorby; great-granddaughter, Willow Rose Wilkes; other survivors include her late husbands family: Gary (Carla) Wood; granddaughter Matt (Jenna) Morrone.

Memorial Service: Tuesday, January 11th, 2022, at 2:00 p.m at the Christ the King Anglican Church in Hiawassee with Father Don O'Malley officiating.
