Cochran Funeral Home & Crematory announces the death of Mrs. Betty Jean Brendle, age 85 of Blairsville who passed away on Sunday August 15th, 2021.
Mrs. Brendle was born on March 20th, 1936 in Macon, North Carolina to the late Grover W. Smith, Sr. and Marjorie (Gass) Smith. Betty was a member of the Blairsville First Baptist Church. She worked as a waitress at the Blairsville Restaurant and Babysat for many years. Betty loved animals and never met a stranger. She is preceded in death by her Husband, John “J.B.” Brendle, Jr, son, John Brendle III, and brothers, Clyde Smith and James Smith.
Survivors include her children, Marjorie Young, Grover (Susie) Brendle, and Cynthia Brendle all of Blairsville, GA, James Brendle of Altamonte Springs, FL; brothers, Wade Smith, Willard Smith, Neville Smith, Paul Smith, and Grover Smith, Jr.; grandchildren, Duane Hyatt, Deanna Parker, John Brendle IV, Jessica Brendle, Jeffrey Brendle, Travis Brendle, and Mark Brendle; 8 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00pm on Thursday August 19th, 2021 from the Chapel of Cochran Funeral Home with Rev. Jason Smith and Rev. Greg Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Union Memory Gardens with Jeffrey Brendle, Travis Brendle, Mark Brendle, Duane Hyatt, Justin Parker, and Timothy Murphy all serving as pallbearers. Honorary Pallbearer will be John Brendle.
The family will receive friends from 1:00pm until the service hour of 2:00pm at the Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville.
Flowers are being accepted, or donations can be made to the Union County Meals on Wheels Program at 95 Senior Citizen Dr. Blairsville, GA 30512 in memory of Mrs. Betty Brendle.
