The Cochran Funeral Home & Crematory of Blairsville announces Memorial Services for Betty (Corry) Mullins, age 76, who passed away on Tuesday morning, April 12, 2016.
Mrs. Mullins was born on June 1, 1939 in Siloam, Georgia to the late Floyd Thomas Corry and Nina Gillespie (Hunter) Corry. She graduated from Greenesboro High School where she was an outstanding basketball player, and held various state records. She played basketball while completing her undergraduate degree at the University of Georgia. Later, Betty obtained a Masters degree from UGA. Following in her parents footsteps, Betty became an educator. Her father was a school superintendent and her mother an educator. She taught for 31 years, and between her and her siblings, they represent over 100 years of education.
Formerly of Presbyterian tradition, Betty was a member of Corinth Baptist Church in Suches, Georgia. She was a lifetime member of Master 4H. She was well known and loved by many.
She will be warmly remembered by all who knew her, but especially missed by her family: loving husband of 54 years, Alvin Mullins; daughter & son-in-law, Sheila Marie & James R. Green; and sisters, Carolyn Corry Spears and Martha Corry Thomas. Also, sharing in her legacy are grandchildren, James Michael Turpin and Jeffery Mullins Turpin; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, April 15, 2016 from the Chapel of Cochran Funeral Home with Rev. Rudy Tribble officiating. Eulogies will be given by Tommy Lawson and James Turpin. Music will be presented by Tommy & Beverly Lawson and Martha Senkbeil. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12 noon until the service begins. Honorary escort to the family will include the entire congregation of Corinth Baptist Church. Inurnment will occur at Siloam Cemetery in Siloam, Georgia at a later date.
