Bessie Ledford Owens

Bessie Ledford Owens, age 88 of Hiawassee, passed away Friday, October 28, 2011 at Chatuge Regional Nursing Home. Mrs. Owens was born October 30, 1922 in Hiawassee, GA to the late Terrell Ledford and the late Lola Berrong Ledford. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. Mrs. Owens was preceded in death by husband, Howard Owens, sisters, Cleo Nations, Eula Mae Garrett, Lucy Hubbard, Rose Perkins, Jane Eller, Ruth Moore, Carrie Nations, Ruby Stiles, Nettie Sprinkles and twin sister, Jessie Youngblood and Brothers, Clyde Ledford and Guy Ledford.

Survivors include: son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Patsy Owens, son, Gary "Coot" Owens and daughter and son-in-law, Diane and David Moon, all of Hiawassee and grandchildren, Deana Brooks, Chris Phillips, Kelly Berry and Jessica Beaver. 5 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services are scheduled for Sunday, October 30, 2011 at 2:00 pm at the Chapel of Cochran Funeral Home with the Rev. Eddis Dockery officiating. Music will provided by Adam Dockery. Interment will follow in the Osborn Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the Cochran Funeral Home of Hiawassee, Saturday, October 29, 2011 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm.

Arrangements entrusted to the Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville, GA. Beaver. 5 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
