Bertha Elizabeth Totherow, age 97, of Marble, passed away Sunday, May 6, 2007 at Murphy Medical Center. Mrs. Totherow was born Friday, September 3, 1909 in Union County Ga. to the late Reverend M.L. Burns and the late Etta Hawkins Burns. Bertha was a homemaker and loving mother who raised nine children and enjoyed quilting working in her flowers and garden. She was a member of the Maltby Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by husband, John Wesley Totherow, daughters, Willa Nell Laney and Nancy Sue Stiles sons, J. D. Totherow and Talmadge Totherow.
Survivors include: daughter & son-in-law, Blanch & Wayne Millsaps of Sylva, daughter & son-in-law, Helen & L.T. Farmer of Marble, daughter, Geneva Hayth of Peachtree, son & daughter-in-law, M.L. & Laverne Totherow of Blairsville, son & daughter-in-law, Dempsey & Katrina Totherow of Marble, twenty six grandchildren, and thirty four great grandchildren several great great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 9, 2007 at 2:00PM from the Maltby Baptist Church with the Reverend Dallas Crowder and Reverend Kenny White officiating. Music Will Be by Medra Palmer. Interment will follow in the Maltby Baptist Church Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are: Grandsons.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-9, Tuesday, May 8.
