Barney Brown

January 22, 1917 — October 2, 2008

Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville, Georgia announces the death of Mr. Barney Brown, age 91, native and lifelong resident of Blairsville, who passed away Thursday, October 2, 2008, in Union County Nursing Home in Blairsville. Mr. Brown was a member of Old Liberty Baptist Church. Mr. Brown had been preceded in death by his wife of almost 70 years, Northa Pauline King Brown; his parents, Henry and Celestie Brown; sister, Cleo B. Hooper; brothers: Elbert, Lewis, Emory, Harmon, Clayton and Paul.

Surviving family members include: daughter, Marie Brown;son and daughter-in-law, Ray and Alwayne Brown, all of Blairsville; sisters: Connie B. Galloway, Frankie B. Dunnaway, Ruby B. Sexton, Ellen B. Collins, Ethel B. Self; brother, Homer Brown; granddaughter and friend, Cindy Brown and Jerry Hunter; step-grandson, Jason Silvers; step-great grandson, Joshua Silvers.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 4, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Cochran Funeral Home with Rev. Harley Hunter, and Rev. Dwayne Patterson officiating. Music will be provided by Old Liberty Baptist Church Choir. Interment will follow in New Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery. The following gentlemen are requested to serve as pallbearers: Junior Brown, Leon Brown, Carroll Brown, Toby Collins, Freddy Collins, Calvin Collins.

The family will receive friends Friday, October 3, from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
