Barbara Jean Rogers, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, went to be home with the Lord on September 25, 2023. She was born on August 20, 1953, in Young Harris, GA. Barbara was lovingly known for her selfless nature and dedication to her family. She was a life-long member of New Union Baptist Church where she faithfully served for many years.
Barbara's caring spirit and devotion to others were evident throughout her life. She made it her mission to serve her family with love and kindness and pointed each of them to Jesus. Barbara's warm and compassionate nature touched the lives of everyone she encountered. She faithfully cared for her Mother, Daddy, and husband.
Barbara was preceded in death by her mother and father, Gordon and Mary Payne; and her brother, Brian Payne.
In addition to being a loving wife of 52 years to Tommy Dale Rogers, Barbara was an extraordinary mother to her two daughters, Melissa Smith (Jim) and Serena Dyer (Ryan). The bond she shared with them was unbreakable, as she nurtured them with unwavering support and guidance. Her love extended beyond her immediate family as she cherished her siblings Don Payne (Marie), Chearl Ballew (Jerry), Darlene Murphy (Wendell), Dianne Spivey (Dale) and Annette Whitmer (Ron).
Barbara's joy in life stemmed from her role as a grandmother and great-grandmother. She adored each of her grandchildren: Britney Bennett (J.R.), Kelley Bryson (Tyler), Brandon Smith, Nathan Smith, Jasper Dyer, Wyatt Dyer - and great-grandchildren: Charlotte Bennett and Mary Grace Bryson. Their laughter filled her heart with immense happiness.
Aside from her dedication to family life, Barbara had a passion for collecting pocketbooks.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, September 28th at New Union Baptist Church in Blairsville GA. The service will begin at 12:00pm. The family will receive friends at 11:00am.
Barbara will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. She leaves behind a legacy of unconditional love and devotion that will continue to inspire others. Her memory will forever live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
We extend our deepest sympathies to Barbara's surviving family and friends during this difficult time. May you find comfort in the cherished memories you shared with her.
