Mrs. Annie Tanner, known lovingly as "Cricket", passed away on Sunday morning, July 21st, 2019 at her home in Blairsville, Georgia.
"Cricket" was a native and lifelong resident of Blairsville, and was a powerful woman of faith, and full of joy! She was very family-oriented and raised many children. At one time, she was the owner and operator of Bunker Hill Grocery Store in Blairsville. "Cricket" was proud of her little town and loved to participate in community festivals and parades. She attended Shady Grove Methodist Church. Preceding her in death was her husband, Glenn Tanner; and her parents, Carter Ard Stephens and Emma Lou Crump Stephens.
"Cricket" will be missed by all who knew her, but especially her loving family: sister, Sue Hamby; and numerous extended family members, and a host of friends.
Funeral Services were held at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 24, 2019 from the Chapel of Cochran Funeral Home with Rev. Stacy Dyer and Rev. Winfred Pitts officiating. Special music was presented by Stacy & Dayton Dyer. Interment followed at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery where she was laid to rest next to her husband, Glenn Tanner. The following gentlemen were selected to serve as pallbearers: Kainan King, Scotty Hamby, Kyle Owenby, Casey Bryson, Josh Sparks and Caleb Sparks. Honorary pallbearers were Kolt and Kody Owenby. The family received friends on Tuesday evening from 6 until 9 p.m.
