Anne Markwalter de Bray
October 20, 1934 ? August 2, 2008

Anne was born in Augusta, GA, on October 20, 1934, to Ruth and Laurence Markwalter. Her early childhood was spent in Savannah, but she and her family moved to Atlanta in 1946. Following graduation from Druid Hills High School in 1952, Anne attended Mercer College in Macon. She continued her education by taking classes at night while working at C&S Bank in Atlanta. Anne met Fred de Bray during those years, and they were married December 28, 1955. They spent their honeymoon in the beautiful mountains of northern Georgia, an area they loved so much that they chose it as their home in 1998 when they moved from Atlanta to Mineral Bluff.
Although, Anne was quite successful professionally with Gate City Oil Equipment Company and with de Bray Property Management, she considered raising her five children the accomplishment of which she was most proud.

In addition to her husband, Frederic E. de Bray, III, Anne is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Laurence and Esther Markwalter; her son Frederic E. de Bray, IV and fiancée Marilyn Cowart; daughter Julianne Offerdahl; son and daughter-in-law, Vincent and Cara de Bray; daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth and Dr. John Dull; daughter and son-in-law, Lauren and Dan Draper. She is also survived by grandchildren Robert, Ronald and Max Allen; Alex, Aaron, and Isaac de Bray; Grant and Taylor Dull; Danielle, Raleigh and Dawson Draper.

Anne and Fred were charter members of Faith Presbyterian Church of Blue Ridge, GA, where they were actively involved both in the church and extended community. Anne will be missed by all who knew her, and she will be remembered for her radiant and indomitable spirit, her dedication to her family and friends, her self-discipline and seemingly boundless energy, her remarkable ability to read and retain vast amounts of information, and her grand sense of humor.

The memorial service for Anne de Bray will be held at the chapel of Henry- Cochran Funeral Home, 3911 Appalachian Hwy., Blue Ridge, GA, on Saturday, August 9, at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Carol S. Wade of Faith Presbyterian officiating. The family will host a reception at the home immediately following the service.
