Mrs. Anna Jo Hooper, age 86, of Young Harris, Georgia, passed away Thursday, January 14, 2016 at Chatuge Regional Nursing Home in Hiawassee.
Anna Jo was born in Clay County, North Carolina, on May 25, 1929, a daughter of the late Roscoe Ledford and the late Pauline Moore Ledford. She was a lifelong resident of this area and was a member of Woods Grove Baptist Church. Anna Jo was a homemaker, and was known for her good cooking. She loved her children and her family, and they, in turn, loved her right back. She had a wonderful personality, and was the type that said what she thought. She had spent several years at the nursing home and became great friends with the nursing staff.
She will be warmly remembered by all who knew her, but especially missed by her family: son & daughter-in-law, Larry & Margie Hooper of Young Harris; daughter & son-in-law, Rebecca & Rodney Underwood of Hiawassee; and brother, James V. Ledford of Hayesville. Also, sharing in her legacy are grandchildren, Shawna Collins, Mark Hooper, and Darrin Hooper; 7 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Lee Hooper; her parents; brother, Zeno Ledford; and sister, Sarah Beth Foster.
Funeral Services were held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 16, 2016 from the Chapel of Cochran Funeral Home with Rev. Danny Burch and Rev. Billy Nicholson officiating. Music was provided by the Pine Top Quartet and the Great Grandchildren. The following gentlemen served as pallbearers: Darrin Hooper, Johnny Burch, Rodney Underwood, Tony Ledford, Josh Hooper and Ben Collins. Honorary escort to the family included Mark Hooper and Rex Ledford. Interment followed in Laurel Hills Memory Gardens Cemetery. The family received friends at the funeral home from 1 p.m. until the service began.
