Ann DiLavore McCook was born in Lawrence, Massechusetts on December 23, 1926 to Philip and Santa Traina DiLavore,. The youngest of nine children. She was raised in Methuen, Massachusetts and graduated from Searles High School. She went on to further her education at the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston, Massachusetts. She graduated with a diploma in Pianoforte, with special honors in Ensemble Playing. Continuing at the Conservatory she received a BM degree, majoring in Piano, in 1947.
Ann taught piano and organ for many years while pursuing a BS in Education Degree at the University of Massachusetts – Lowell, from which she graduated in 1952, then received a Master of Education Degree in 1954. She was a member of the Methuen Chapter No. 204 Order of the Eastern Star and was their pianist.
She gave concerts and accompanied the Andover Male Choir at the Andover Academy and the Greater Lawrence Community Chorus, performing such works as Handel’s “Messiah”, Mendelssohn’s “Elijah” and Rossini’s “Stabat Mater”.
Ann was raised a Methodist and played the organ for church services in a number of the Greater Lawrence churches throughout the years, beginning at age thirteen. She also has had the privilege of playing the “Great Organ” as a guest soloist at the Methuen Memorial Concert Hall.
In 1952 Ann became an elementary school teacher in the Methuen Public Schools until she moved to Florida in 1961. She continued her teaching career in the Miami-Dade County School System, Florida until her retirement in 1983.
Ann was married to Joe R. McCook. They have two sons, Robert R. McCook of Leesburg, Georgia and David W. McCook of Blountsville, Alabama. Their only daughter Santa was still-born.
Ann and Joe moved to Hiawassee, Georgia in 1985.
Funeral Services to be held at Cochran McDaniel Funeral Home Hiawassee Chapel on Thursday, September 26th, 2024, at 1:00 pm.

Interment will follow at Union Memory Gardens.
