Amaryllis Little Burns of Gulfport, Mississippi, age 93 went to be with the Lord on January 20, 2021.
She was born in Murphy, North Carolina, a daughter of the late Clifford Virgil and Essie Price Little. She was a member of First Baptist Church Gulfport, having moved to Gulfport from Blairsville, Georgia in 2007. She was a charter member and past Matron of Notla Chapter #4710 Eastern Star, Blairsville, Georgia.
Amaryllis taught in the Union County, Georgia school system in the 1950s and was a retired office worker.
Her hobbies were her vegetable garden, flower garden, quilting, crocheting, and other hand work.
In addition to her parents, she was proceeded in death in 2001 by her husband of 56 years, C. Ford Burns; two brothers, Gauvain J. Little, Clarence L. Little, 3 sisters, Callie Lou Williams, Winnie Ruth Norris, and an infant sister Genevieve; and a nephew, Harrison Little.
Survivors are nieces Brenda Little Carder and husband Ralph, Sherrill Little Milne and husband Bill, all of Murphy, NC; Deborah Little Elliott of Ringgold, GA; Dianna Little Kilpatrick and husband Steve of Augusta, GA; Nancy Williams Scipione and husband Kim, and Constance Williams Gagne’, all of Gulfport MS; two nephews Bruce Little and wife Debbie of Murphy, NC; and Shaun Clayton Williams and wife Kimberly of Collierville, TN.
In addition she is survived by 3 sisters-in-law and several grand and great-grand nieces and nephews, and many friends.
Interment will be in Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery. Cochran Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. The service will be graveside Friday, January 29, 2021 at 2:00 PM due to Covid-19.
