The Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville announces funeral services for Mrs. Alma "Jean" Crump, age 71 of Griffin, GA who passed away on Monday, June 9, 2014.
Jean was born in Union County, Georgia on June 5, 1943 to the late Odes Ray & Mae (Seabolt) Dixon. Jean's passion and calling in life was to serve her family. She was a homemaker for most of her life, but worked on occasion at factories such as Georgia Boot and William Carter's Colthing. The outdoors held a special place in Jean's heart and she used moments like fishing, gardening and cooking to teach life lessons and spend quality time with those she loved. She enjoyed the beauty in flowers and was gifted with a "green thumb", often she was found pulling weeds in her garden. Known as a simple and down to earth woman, Jean's conversations were loved by friends and neighbors. She enjoyed road trips and sight seeing with her sister, Faye and brother -in-law, Junior. Jean was also a member of Harmony Grove Baptist Church.
She will be warmly remembered by all who knew her, but especially missed by her family: Devoted husband of 50 years, John David (JD) Crump; daughter & son-in-law, Marlene & Richard Brooks; daughter, Michelle Crump; step-son, Tommy Crump and sister, Faye Duckworth. Jean was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Olean Burnett and brother-in-law, Junior Duckworth.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, June 13, 2014 from the Chapel of Cochran Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Karnes officiating. Special music will be presented by the Harmony Grove Baptist Church Choir. Interment will follow at Harmony Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. The following gentlemen have been selected to serve as pallbearers: John Burnett, Julian Burnett, Doug Duckworth, Jerry Davis, Jerry Payne & Larry Seabolt. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 6 until 9 pm at the funeral home.
