Allie Mitchell

Allie Mitchell, a cherished member of the Murphy, North Carolina community, passed away on September 28, 2024, at Murphy Nursing Home in Murphy, North Carolina. He was born on August 26, 1935, in Virginia.   Allie's life story is one of dedication, compassion, and commitment both in his professional endeavors and personal contributions to his community.

Allie earned his Bachelor's Degree from William and Mary University in Williamsburg, Virginia, and later completed his Master's Degree at the University of Omaha in Omaha, Nebraska.  As part of his career, he served as Manager at Murphy Medical Center, in Murphy, North Carolina.

An esteemed member of the United States Airforce Reserves, Allie held the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. His military service reflected his sense of duty and loyalty to his country, values he carried throughout his life.

A proud member of the Knights of Columbus, Allie's commitment to faith and community could be seen in his active participation at St. Williams Catholic Church. His leadership within the church and his involvement with the Knights showcased his unwavering dedication to helping others and fostering a sense of fellowship.

Allie was known for his vibrant personality and love for life. He cherished his time living in Murphy, North Carolina, where he formed deep connections with the community. His legacy will live on through the lives he touched and the relationships he built.

Allie is survived by his stepson, John Brooks. He was preceded in death by his devoted wife, Joan Mitchell, with whom he shared countless cherished moments.
