Alfred "Al" Gonzales, 68, of Hayesville, NC, was called home to the Lord on October 6, 2014, surrounded by his family.
He was born in Las Vegas, NM on September 16, 1946 to loving parents, Albert and Grace (Ulibarri) Gonzales. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Elizabeth, In-laws Alex and Joan Fasy, and brothers-in-law Gary and John Fasy.
He graduated from Robertson High School in Las Vegas, NM in 1965. He moved to Denver, CO where he met his wife of 37 years, Pamela, and began raising a family. They relocated to Florida until he retired. He enjoyed sports, travel, fishing, and music. He played guitar and would make up songs and stories to entertain the grandchildren.
He was blessed in life with a loving wife Pamela, daughters Donna (Aaron) Maestas, Natalie (Randy) Jimenez, Vicki (Andrew) Polk, and Erin (Frank) Barrientez; a son Paul (Bernadette) Gonzales; dearly loved grandchildren Frank Jr., Mariela, Gregorio, Alejandro, Saige, Diego, Maya, Randi, Rebecca, Gabriella, and Isabella; a devoted sister Alberta (Maurilio) Vigil; and a beloved brother Karl (Crestina) Gonzales. He also enjoyed the love and affection of nieces, nephews, and in-laws.
In 2012, he retired to Hayesville and lived the remainder of his life in his little piece of paradise. He was thankful each and every day, for the time granted him in this beautiful, inviting place.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM, Saturday October 18, at Oak Forest Methodist Church in Hayesville, NC.
