Alda Doris Byers, age 86 of Brasstown, NC, passed away Saturday, April 4, 2009 at Murphy Medical Center Nursing Home.Mrs. Byers was born Wednesday, February 28, 1923 in Graham Co. NC to the late Thomas Carringer and the late Kitty Jenkins Carringer. Mrs Byers was a member of Little Brasstown Baptist Church. She enjoyed gardening and working in her yard. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Byers, two brothers, Bruce Carringer and Jack Carringer and a grandson Byron Roberts.

Survivors include: son & daughter-in-law, Allen & Betty Byers of Murphy, son & daughter-in-law, Burt & Linda Byers of Murphy, son & daughter-in-law, Jerry & Diane Byers of Kennesaw, Ga, son, Tommy Byers of Brasstown, son & daughter-in-law, Ronnie & Julie Byers of Brasstown, sister, Ada Crisp of Robinsville, brother, Neal Carringer of Brasstown, brother, Ted Carringer of Knoxville, sister, Jean Shelton of Ellijay, brother, Edgar Carringer of Ellijay, brother, T. C. Carringer of Ellijay, 13 grandchildren, , 13 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 7, 2009 at 2:00PM from the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Aud Brown, Reverend Fred Lunsford officiating. Music will be provided by Aud and Becky Brown. Interment will follow in Hickory Stand Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are: Justin Byers, Nathan Byers, Bradley Byers, Austin Byers, Trevis Roberts, Mike Hedden.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from Monday, April 6, 6-9 PM.
